Step by step in Safari

  1. In the X app, open the post, tap Share, then Copy link.
  2. In Safari, paste the link into the box at the top of this page.
  3. Choose a quality, tap Download MP4, then tap Download when Safari asks.
  4. Open the Files app, go to Downloads, and tap the video.
  5. Tap the Share icon, then Save Video. The video is now in Photos.

Can't find the download?

Tap the download arrow in Safari's address bar to see recent downloads. Safari saves to iCloud Drive β€Ί Downloads unless you changed it in Settings β€Ί Safari β€Ί Downloads (Settings β€Ί Apps β€Ί Safari on newer iOS versions).

Long videos and live recordings

Keep Safari open while a long replay or a live recording downloads. iPhone may pause downloads when Safari stays in the background.

Does this work for Instagram Reels too?

Yes. Copy the Reel link from Instagram instead; the remaining steps are the same.

Do I need an app or a shortcut?

No. Safari and the built-in Files app are enough.
